South African House Music Artist Focus: Garth Brown

Garth Brown

As a long standing C.9ine alumni, Garth Brown transcends the norm as he continues to prove himself as a widely cited singer, song writer within the different realms of the music and entertainment industries as a whole. His sophisticated and hypnotic vocals draw their influence from Jazz, Neo soul, Rnb and Afro Pop with hints of experimental Gospel influences. Garth Brown is fast becoming a sort after vocalist across various genres as he consistantly stamps his mark in the music industry. With a wide vocal range supported by an eclectic palette of musical references and styles, this talented young musician is boldly climbing up the ranks to claim his place amongst the elite.
Since realising at an early age that music is his calling, Garth Brown has had to overcome a lot of challenges some of which had to do with his shy persona. Referred to by some as a gentle soul, Mr Brown owes his success to his close knitted family who have helped him overcome a lot of his fears as a young musician. Since that fateful day when his cousin Natasha unintentionally made him realize that music is where he belongs Garth took the bull by the horns and has never looked back.

In the year 2012 the music industry took notice as Garth Brown dominated the airwaves and shattered the South African Music charts with his fetured smash hit single “Inhliziyo yam” taken from Jaguar Paw’s Deep Forest Sessions 1 album. Garth has since worked and collaborated with various artists and DJs such as Muskidd.Their single titled “In your eyes” continues to dominate airwaves both locally and internationally.

As a sought after artists and in demand musician, 2013 saw Garth Brown sign to C.9ine Recordings, a label with affiliation ties to the independent label giants Soul Candi Records. This relationship took a natural progression as Garth had always been a fan of the Labels musical duo Danny and Skitzo who make up C.9ine. Garth Brown has since been featured on C.9ine’s hit album: A Million Sprockets where he showcases his musical genius on a single titled Colors of life.
With his first solo album still in production Garth Brown has been deemed by industry watch dogs as the one to watch. Wherether you know Garth or still yet to meet him one thing is for sure, this talented young musican has a long and prosperous future ahead of him.
