Black Motion – Fortune Teller

Black Motion came into being in early 2010 – when Robert (DJ Murda) Mahosana and percussionist Thabo “Smol” Mabogwane decided to work together. They had already been producing music separately for years prior. From the onset this partnership led to string of respectable production that have been lighting up the dance floors in Southern Africa. Black Motion has enjoyed support from big name south African DJs and party goers alike. Their music has been featured on a number of CD compilations in South Africa and Bhana Shilolo and Set Me Free are on healthy rotation in the leading commercial radio. House Afrika Present “Kaylow – Reach Out”

Kaylow - Reach Out

Kaylow – Reach Out

For Meadowlands Soweto rising vocal star, Kaylow (Kelello Segoana) advancing forward into the limelight as a bonafide solo recording artist is the logical next step in a journey so far decorated with some of the house music community’s most prized collaborations of late: Difference with Darque, What About with Rocco, Having You Around with Nastee Nev, Searching with Reelsoul, Ready For The World with Black Coffee and Darque, Out There with Da Capo – these are just a few titles in a long list of stellar musical partnerships which have not only endeared the young singer’s voice to his growing fan base, but were the reason he caught the notice of head honchos Vinny Da Vinci and Tim White, who upon hearing him wasted no time in co-opting him into their House Afrika / Sony Music Entertainment Africa family.

And there has been no shortage of praise for Kaylow’s vocal and songwriting talents from within the industry’s upper echelons. For one, Sony Music’s head of A&R Zakes Bantwini – himself an accomplished musician – insists on his genius and star power. ‘Kaylow is not your typical house music vocalist, he is a song-writer foremost, he pens love songs that recalls Oscar Wilde quotes, offering something special to today’s pop obsessed music market’, says Bantwini, predicting ‘Kaylow just knows how to brighten up songs, with the talent he possess he’s surely destined for greatness’.

Soul/R&B and Gospel are the obvious markers of Kaylow’s genre influences. The artists who have helped to shape his vocal phrasing are the ones considered elder statesmen of modern day R&B. He has learned by listening to some of the best – favorites like BoyzIIMen, Luther Vandross, and Brian McKnight are counted amongst them and help explain why his tone harkens back to a time when real vocal delivery mattered. ‘I describe my music as the hearts expression’, says Kaylow, my passion lies in music and the most exciting thing about my work is hearing how much of a difference it makes in peoples lives’

The time has arrived for Kaylow to finally unleash his full impact. With that voice as a weapon his debut set of soul-soaked songs demonstrate the range in which Kaylow oscillates so effortlessly, starting out sensual and atmospheric on

GoGo Music Present “Ralf Gum – In My City”

Ralf Gum - In My City

Ralf Gum – In My City

Jumping straight in on the No.1 spot on iTunes South Africa on day of release and already one of the most celebrated albums of 2014 in the motherland, House veteran DJ/producer Ralf GUM unleashes his third album, ‘In My City’, unto the rest of the world on his acclaimed GOGO Music label.

Moulded with his soulful, organic signature sounds,‘In My City’ is a tapestry of beautifully weaved songs and features local South African and international artists – established and upcoming. These include top drawer artists such as the inimitable Hugh Masekela, “My love for his tone on the trumpet never faded”, says Ralf, who grew up listening to Hugh. House Afrika Present “Chymamusique – Gift Of Sound”

Chymamusique - Gift Of Sound

Chymamusique – Gift Of Sound

With a background as a jazz pianist it’s little wonder Chymamusique’s debut album is soaked in smooth chords and twinkling harmonies. It also melodically slays on the dancefloor.

Featuring collaborations with Brian Temba and Soulstar and Chymamusique’s usual lush production, ‘Gift of Sound’ is just that: a gift. It comes on the heels of much success for the young Polokwane producer: after starting to produce in the mid-2000s he won a trio of remix competitions (for Soulcandi, Blackwhole ENT and Castle Lite), had tracks included on numerous compilations (including ‘House Afrika Sessions’ (volumes 2, 3 and 4) and Kanunu’s ‘Soul Mediation’ and he collaborated with DJ Fresh.

He’s also worked with the likes of Kaylow, Rona Ray, John Lundun, CannonSoul and Afrique Essence, remixed Darque & Reelsoul, Fistaz Mixwell ft. Mello Soul and the massive Mi Casa, whilst as a DJ he’s shared stages with the likes of Vinny Da Vincy, Glen Lewis, QB Smith, Charles Webster and Atjazz. If any artist is perfectly poised to hit the big time it’s Chymamusique, and this House Afrika release should do the trick.

Drenched in deep, sweeping atmospherics, glittering keys, soulful vocals and more than enough bass propulsion, ‘Gift of Sound’ should take Chymamusique out of the realms of underground respect and onto the world dance stage – an essential release.
